Tilia dasystyla is a deciduous lime tree species. It contains the following subspecies: T. dasystyla subsp. caucasica (V.Engl.) Pigott (syn. T. begoniifolia, T. caucasica, T. platyphyllos subsp. caucasica, T. rubra var. begoniifolia, T. rubra subsp. caucasica) – northern Iran, northern and western Turkey, Caucasus, and Crimea T. dasystyla subsp. dasystyla – Crimea
Crimean lime is disease-resistant and typically does not get sick. In terms of care, the plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger plants usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned once they have finished blooming. Crimean limet is appropriate for anyone with an outdoor area, like a garden or a deck, and does not demand much care experience.
How to keep Tilia Dasystyla.
Light
The Crimean lime comes from open habitats, like sunny meadows and forest edges, which supply abundant light. It performs best in full sun but can also withstand partial sun, adjusting well to different light conditions.
Temperature
Crimean lime is highly adaptable to a variety of climate conditions, from very hot summers to cold winters. Still, it has an optimal temperature range for growth. If temperatures become too high, the plant can suffer from heat and humidity stress, which may lead to its death. In areas where temperatures approach the lower limit of its cold tolerance, it is important to provide insulation to protect the plant.
Fertilizer
Timing is essential for fertilizing Crimean lime. Apply fertilizer in early spring and continue on a monthly basis until early summer. Fertilization encourages attractive blooms and provides energy during both dormant periods and active growth.
