Sophora chrysophylla, known as Māmane in Hawaiian, is a species of flowering plant in the pea and bean family, Fabaceae, that is endemic to Hawaii. It is highly polymorphic, growing as a shrub or tree, and able to reach a height of 15 m (49 ft) in tree form. Yellow flowers are produced in winter and spring.
Mamani shows strong resistance to disease and is usually not susceptible to illnesses. As for care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens generally do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they have finished blooming. Mamanit is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not require extensive care experience.
How to keep Sophora Chrysophylla.
Light
Mamani is native to open habitats, like sunlit meadows and forest edges, that offer abundant light. It performs best in Full Sun but can tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to different sunlight levels.
Fertilizer
Timing is essential for fertilizing Mamani. Start fertilizing in early spring and continue on a monthly schedule until early summer. Fertilizer promotes attractive blooms and provides energy during both dormant and active growth periods.
Pruning
Pruning mamani in early spring is crucial for maintaining its health and promoting better flowering. Concentrate on removing dead wood, shaping the plant's structure, and enhancing air circulation. Ensure that the timing aligns with the dormant season, and always use clean tools to reduce stress and minimize the risk of disease.
