Salix euxina, the eastern crack-willow, is a species of flowering plant in the willow family Salicaceae, native from Turkey to the Caucasus. It was first described by I. V. Belyaeva in 2009. It is one of the parents of the common crack-willow, Salix × fragilis.
Crack willow is resistant to diseases and is generally unlikely to be affected by them. Regarding care, this plant is fairly low maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish flowering. Crack willow is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand extensive plant-care experience.
How to keep Salix Euxina.
Light
The crack willow does best when exposed to sunlight throughout the day, preferring abundant sun. However, it can also adapt to areas with less illumination. Too little sunlight may slow its growth, while too much can scorch it. Its native habitat receives plenty of sun.
Temperature
Crack willow is native to climates with temperatures ranging from 41 to 89.6 °F (5 to 32 ℃). It thrives within this range. When cultivating it, monitor temperatures as the seasons change and adjust as necessary.
Fertilizer
Fertilize your Crack willow in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Regular feeding improves overall health, leading to vigorous growth, better tolerance of harsh conditions, and increased resistance to diseases and pests. Keep to a consistent fertilization schedule to maintain vibrant, deeply colored foliage and a lush appearance.
