Melica persica is a species of grass that can be found in Central Asia, India, and in Gansu, Jilin, Sichuan provinces of China.
Persian Melic Grass is resistant to disease and generally not easily affected by illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Planted outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they have bloomed. Persian Melic Grass is suitable for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or a deck, and does not demand much care experience.
How to keep Melica Persica.
Light
Persian Melic Grass comes from bright, open habitats where it performs best in full sun. It will tolerate partial sun but prefers direct sunlight for optimal growth. This plant, which behaves as an annual and a biennial, is noted for its sun-loving character.
Temperature
Persian Melic Grass can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by different combinations of water and heat. It does best in warm summer conditions with sufficient rainfall or watering. Prolonged stretches of cloudy, rainy weather or sustained high temperatures can raise the chance of Persian Melic Grass dying. In winter, proper protection from cold can increase the plant's survival.
Pot & Repot
When repotting Persian Melic Grass, choose a pot that is 1–2 inches (2.5–5.1 cm) larger in diameter and has good drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix and consider adding perlite for extra drainage. Repot in spring or early summer, water thoroughly afterward, and keep it in a shady spot at first.
