Argyrochosma microphylla, the small-leaf false cloak fern, is a species of fern native to New Mexico, Texas and northern Mexico. It grows on limestone rocks and cliffs, and has finely-divided leaves with small leaf segments, often folded in half when dry, which lack the white powder present on the leaf underside of many related species. First described as a species in 1869, it was transferred to the new genus Argyrochosma in 1987.
Small-leaf false cloak fern usually has strong disease resistance and faces relatively few insect pests. Its care is considered difficult because it needs a moist environment and frequent watering. However, its roots are susceptible to rot if overwatered or if the surroundings are poorly ventilated. Small-leaf false cloak fern is suited to people with some growing experience, as most individuals can keep it alive for a certain period. Even so, the plant may struggle to thrive and its leaves can dry out and become less healthy over time.
