A note from PlantMom

Haworthia herbacea is fairly disease-resistant and, with normal care, is unlikely to become ill. It is also not highly vulnerable to most pests and diseases. Regarding care, Haworthia herbacea is drought-tolerant and can withstand long intervals without watering. It needs little fertilizer and generally does not require pruning. These characteristics make it a suitable plant for people at any experience level, especially those who prefer to spend less time maintaining their plants. It is a good option for people who are often away for long periods and may forget to water regularly.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Haworthia Herbacea.

Water

It is important to water your plant evenly and generously in the summer. Ensure that the water reaches all parts of the soil media. However, allow the soil to dry out between waterings to avoid overwatering. This approach helps maintain proper moisture levels for the plant while preventing waterlogging.

Temperature

Haworthia herbacea performs best in warm conditions and needs relatively high temperatures during the growing season to support growth and metabolic activity. It prefers abundant sunlight, suitable moisture, and good air circulation. It can be damaged by very low temperatures and by overwatering. Likewise, it's important to avoid excessively high heat and overly dry conditions.

Fertilizer

For Haworthia herbacea, light applications of fertilizer one to two times a year during the growing season are enough. Avoid fertilizing in winter and in summer, when the plant is dormant. Use less fertilizer for repotted plants and wait a couple of months after repotting before you start fertilizing. Fertilizing helps maintain healthy growth and encourages flowering.

Pruning

Use a clean knife or pair of scissors to properly cut a leaf from the mother plant for propagating the plant from cuttings. Wait a few days for it to callus before replanting. You should plant your new succulent in well-draining soil. When the earth starts to dry out, don't forget to water.

Toxicity

The zebra plant is completely safe for pets, despite having a shape and dimensions that are quite similar to aloe, which is harmful to cats and dogs. Even non-toxic succulents should be kept out of the reach of kids and pets as a general rule for all indoor plants.
