Eucalyptus conferruminata, commonly known as Bald Island marlock or bushy yate, is a small tree or mallee endemic to the south coast of Western Australia. It has smooth whitish and grey bark, elliptic to oblong or egg-shaped adult leaves, flower buds in fused in groups of between fifteen and twenty one, green to yellowish flowers and fruit forming a woody mass.
Spider gum shows good resistance to disease and is generally unlikely to suffer from illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Planted outdoors, it needs only minimal watering, and larger plants typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish blooming. Spider gumt is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or a deck, and does not demand much care experience.
How to keep Eucalyptus Conferruminata.
Light
Spider gum comes from open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest edges, which supply plenty of light. It performs best in Full Sun but can also withstand Partial Sun, adapting well to different sunlight levels.
Temperature
Spider gum is highly adaptable to a range of climate conditions, handling both scorching summers and chilly winters. That said, it has a preferred temperature range for optimal growth. If temperatures rise too far, the plant can suffer heat and humidity stress that may kill it. In areas where temperatures approach its lower cold-tolerance limit, providing insulation to protect the plant is important.
Fertilizer
The timing of fertilizing Spider gum is important. Fertilize in early spring and continue monthly until early summer. Fertilizer encourages attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant and active growth phases.
