A note from PlantMom

The Arnold hawthorn is resistant to disease and is usually not susceptible to illnesses. As far as care goes, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens generally do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish blooming. Arnold hawthorn is appropriate for anyone with outdoor space, like a garden or deck, and does not demand much care experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Crataegus Arnoldiana.

Light

Arnold hawthorn is native to open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest edges, which provide abundant light. It performs best in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to different sunlight conditions.

Temperature

Arnold hawthorn shows strong adaptability to different climate conditions, whether in scorching summers or cold winters. It nonetheless has an optimal temperature range for growth. If temperatures become excessively high, the plant is susceptible to heat and humidity stress, which can lead to its death. In areas where temperatures approach the lower limit of its cold tolerance, it is important to provide insulation to protect the plant.

Fertilizer

The timing of fertilizer application is important for Arnold hawthorn. Apply fertilizer in early spring and continue monthly until early summer. Fertilizer encourages attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant and active growth periods.
