ON THIS PLANT

Hedgehog Stonecrop (Crassula hirtipes) is a tiny succulent with decumbent to upright stems and green to reddish-green leaves with short recurved hairs. It grows in the shape of spreading tufts up to 6 inches in diameter. The leaves are egg-shaped to lance-shaped, up to 0.8 inches long and 0.3 inches broad. Flowers are tubular, cream to yellow, and occur in late winter and early spring in elongated clusters on hairy, lengthy peduncles. The specific epithet "hirtipes" is derived from the Latin words "hirtus" (hairy or shaggy) and "pes" (foot). This is due to the appearance of its hairy blossom stem.
