Castanea seguinii, called Seguin chestnut, Seguin's chestnut, or Chinese chinquapin (a name it shares with Castanea henryi), and in Chinese: 茅栗, mao li, is a species of chestnut native to south‑central and southeast China.
How to keep Castanea Seguinii.
Water
The Chinese dwarf chestnut is extremely drought-tolerant once it has been established, requiring very little moisture. Water the tree once a week, and increase the frequency during the fruiting period. After the leaves drop in the fall, stop watering until spring, when you should resume watering just before new growth appears.
Pruning
The Chinese dwarf chestnut flourishes when it receives plenty of sunlight. Pruning the internal branches improves its appearance, increases airflow, and promotes flowering. To ensure better fruit quality, keep the early blooms and promptly remove any branches that show signs of infestation. Avoid pruning during rainy weather to prevent the spread of disease, and always apply fungicide after pruning.
