Begonia variegata naturally occurs in habitats like forest understories or rocky sites, where it grows in natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate full sun or complete shade, showing its adaptable and resilient nature.

Begonia variegata is quite adaptable to temperature, able to withstand high heat and wide temperature fluctuations. In hot conditions, attention should be paid to watering and providing suitable shade to prevent sunburn. However, Begonia variegata tolerates low temperatures poorly. While it can endure a certain amount of cold, excessively low temperatures can cause frost damage.

One fertilization in spring is generally adequate for Begonia variegata, but several feedings can maximize growth. Feed every month to a month and a half. Fertilizing improves the leaves' appearance and function, helping maintain even color and a healthy texture. It also encourages root development and nutrient uptake for long-term plant health.

When repotting Begonia variegata, choose a pot 1-2 inches (2.5-5.1 cm) larger with ample drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix.
