Begonia sericoneura occurs naturally in habitats like forest understories or rocky sites, where it is subject to natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate full sun or full shade, illustrating its hardy and versatile character.

Begonia sericoneura comes from tropical areas, where the climate is generally warm and humid. Consequently, it is adapted to high heat and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a steady temperature, so avoiding indoor temperature fluctuations is important. It typically cannot withstand cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Begonia sericoneura needs the most fertilizer during its active growth phase, which occurs mainly in spring, summer, and early fall. Fertilization supplies essential nutrients that may be missing from the soil and encourages healthy root and stem development, along with the attractive foliage that is a key feature of this plant.
