A note from PlantMom

scarlet bidibid displays good resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. However, it can be vulnerable to pests and diseases that exist in its surroundings. These infections are typically not severe. In terms of care, the plant requires moderate maintenance. It should be pruned regularly to maintain a neat appearance and support healthy growth. Fertilizing can also help encourage flowering. scarlet bidibid is suitable for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or patio, and does not demand extensive care experience. It may need more attention when grown indoors.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Acaena Microphylla.

Light

scarlet bidibid occurs naturally in habitats like forest understories or rocky areas, where it is subject to natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can adjust to full sun or full shade, reflecting its versatile and hardy nature.

Temperature

Scarlet bidibid can tolerate a wide span of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by different combinations of water and heat conditions. It does best in warm summer climates with adequate rainfall or watering. Extended stretches of cloudy, rainy weather, and prolonged high temperatures, can raise the risk of scarlet bidibid dying. In winter, proper protection from the cold can increase the plant's survival rate.

Fertilizer

One fertilizer application in spring is generally enough for scarlet bidibid, though repeated feedings can maximize growth. Feed every one to one-and-a-half months. Fertilization improves leaf appearance and function, helping maintain even color and a healthy texture. It also encourages root growth and nutrient uptake, supporting long-term plant health.
