The weigela decora needs approximately 1 inch of water every 7 to 10 days. During dry spells or heatwaves, you should water it manually. To promote soil absorption and minimize disease risk, water the plant near its roots with a gentle stream in the morning. Avoid watering at night to prevent creating damp conditions that can lead to disease.

Weigela decora features graceful arching branches and vibrant tubular flowers. To maintain its health and appearance, prune the shrub in early spring. Remove any dead wood and thin out crowded branches to improve air circulation. Additionally, cut back one-third of the older stems to encourage new growth. Avoid pruning in late summer, as this could harm the flowers for the next season.
