Tradescantia cerinthoides, commonly known as the flame or fiery spiderwort, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Commelinaceae family. Native to Central and South America, it thrives in moist environments such as swamps, marshes, and riverbanks.

The plant features long, trailing stems that can extend up to 60 cm. Its lance-shaped leaves, arranged alternately along the stem, are green on the upper side and purple underneath.

The flowers of Tradescantia cerinthoides are small yet abundant, clustering at the ends of stems. Each flower has three petals, with colors ranging from pinkish-purple to bright red-orange.

This plant is easy to grow and requires minimal maintenance once established. While it prefers moist soil, it can tolerate periods of drought. It thrives in partial shade to full sun.
