Tillandsia erubescens is a species of epiphytic plants of the genus Tillandsia. This species is endemic to Mexico, found over much of the country from Chihuahua to Oaxaca.Three varieties are recognized:
Tillandsia erubescens var. arroyoensis W.Weber & Ehlers - northeastern Mexico Tillandsia erubescens var. erubescens - much of Mexico Tillandsia erubescens var. patentibracteata W.Weber & Ehlers - Sinaloa
Sky plant is generally resistant to disease and is usually not prone to illnesses. However, if it does not receive adequate ventilation it can be vulnerable to rot. Its care level is rated as medium because it needs frequent spraying to raise humidity and a small quantity of fertilizer mixed into its water. This plant is best for people with some growing experience, since improper care over time can kill it, even when problems are not immediately noticeable.
How to keep Tillandsia Erubescens.
Light
The Sky plant thrives in environments with moderate sunlight — a combination of sun and shade — and should not be exposed to intense solar radiation all day. It originates from habitats where light distribution varies; excessive exposure can damage its health, while insufficient sunlight can impede its growth and development.
Temperature
Sky plant, an air plant species, does best in temperatures from 68 to 100 ℉ (20 to 38 ℃) and can endure temperatures as low as 50 ℉ (10 ℃). In its native habitat it grows in tropical and subtropical zones where temperatures typically range from 75 to 85 ℉ (24 to 29 ℃). In summer, it is advisable to relocate the plant to a cooler spot or provide shade to avoid temperature extremes.
