Stryphnodendron adstringens (Portuguese: barbatimão) is a species of legume in the genus Stryphnodendron found in Brazil. Holcocera cerradicola is a moth, whose larvae feed on S. adstringens.
Stryphnodendron is resistant to disease and is generally unlikely to suffer from illnesses. In terms of care, the plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they have finished blooming. This species is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand extensive care experience.
How to keep Stryphnodendron Adstringens.
Light
Stryphnodendron comes from open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest margins, which offer abundant light. It thrives in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to a range of sunlight conditions.
Temperature
Stryphnodendron comes from tropical regions, where the climate is generally warm and humid. As a result, it is adapted to high temperatures and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature changes and prefers a stable thermal environment, so it is important to avoid indoor temperature fluctuations. It usually cannot withstand cold and requires warmer temperatures for growth. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.
Fertilizer
Fertilization is essential for caring for Stryphnodendron. Regular feeding during the active growing season maintains the energy needed for its showy leaves and supports overall development. Failing to fertilize can lead to unhealthy foliage, reduced ornamental value, and stunted or weak growth that is more likely to break.
