Solidago mollis is a North American species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae known by the common names velvety goldenrod, soft goldenrod or Ashly goldenrod. It is native to the central United States and central Canada, primarily the Great Plains from the Canadian Prairie Provinces south as far as Texas and New Mexico.Solidago mollis is a perennial herb up to 70 cm (2.3 ft) tall with creeping rhizomes. Leaves are egg-shaped or lance shaped, up to 10 cm (4 in) long, covered with soft, fine hairs. One plant can produce as many as 300 small yellow flower heads in a branching array at the top of the plant.
Canada goldenrod is fairly resistant to disease and typically does not suffer from them. However, it can be affected by pests and pathogens present in its surroundings. Such infections are generally mild. Regarding care, the plant needs moderate upkeep. Regular pruning is necessary to preserve its appearance and encourage healthy growth. Applying fertilizer can also encourage flowering. Canada goldenrod is suitable for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or patio, and doesn't require much care experience. It may need extra attention if grown indoors.
How to keep Solidago Mollis.
Light
Canada goldenrod grows best where it can access plentiful sunlight; it tolerates some shade but performs best in strong sun. Originating from sun-rich habitats, it may develop pale coloring or stunted growth in low-light conditions. Excessive exposure, however, can cause dehydration.
Temperature
In its native habitat, canada goldenrod endures a broad range of temperatures but prefers 41-95 ℉ (5-35 ℃). In cooler conditions its growth may slow, but it can still thrive. In warmer weather it may require more water. In the winter, canada goldenrod can tolerate frost and will die back to the ground, then regrow in the spring.
Fertilizer
A single fertilizer application in spring is generally adequate for Canada goldenrod, although multiple feedings can boost growth. Feed every month to every month and a half. Fertilization improves the leaves' appearance and function, helping maintain even color and a healthy texture. It also encourages root development and nutrient uptake for sustained plant health.
