Rosa hirtula, the sanshou-bara or Hakone rose, is a species of flowering plant in the family Rosaceae. It is found only in the vicinity of Mount Fuji and neighboring Mount Hakone in Japan, and is the town flower of Hakone.
How to keep Rosa Hirtula.
Water
Rosa hirtula, which originates from regions with high humidity, prefers moderate moisture levels. For optimal growth, it should be watered every 1–2 weeks and planted in well-drained soil. Additionally, rainfall during its growing season is beneficial.
Pruning
Rosa hirtula grows vigorously, but to prevent disease and pest problems, especially in adverse conditions, regular pruning is essential. After the plant blooms, remove any faded flowers and thin out the branches. For vine varieties, maintain a length of 2-3 meters. For bush varieties, prune to one-third of the plant's height, leaving 4-6 strong branches.
