Protea compacta is similar to Protea eximia. Its distribution is from the Kleinmond to Bredasdorp Mountains and is one of the best known proteas in the cut flower industry. Its leaves curve upward.
Bot River protea has strong disease resistance and is generally not prone to illness. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs little watering, and larger plants typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be cut back after they have finished blooming. Bot River protea is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much gardening experience.
How to keep Protea Compacta.
Light
Bot river protea comes from open habitats like sunlit meadows and forest edges that provide plenty of light. It does best in Full Sun but will tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to a range of sunlight conditions.
Temperature
Bot river protea has strong temperature adaptability and can endure higher heat and greater temperature fluctuations. In hot weather, attention should be paid to watering and to providing adequate shade to avoid sunburn. Conversely, Bot river protea is relatively sensitive to low temperatures. It can tolerate some cold, but excessively low temperatures may cause frost damage.
Fertilizer
Timing is important for fertilizing Bot river protea. Fertilize in early spring and continue monthly until early summer. Fertilizer promotes attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant and active growth phases.
