Prionium serratum, the palmiet, is a robust, evergreen, semiaquatic, rhizomatous flowering plant growing to 2 m in height. It is the only species in the genus Prionium, and is endemic to South Africa. Some authors have separated Prionium from the Thurniaceae, putting it instead in its own family, the Prioniaceae.
Palmiet displays good resistance to disease and is typically not prone to illnesses. When it comes to care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they have finished blooming. Palmiett is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, like a garden or deck, and does not demand much prior care experience.
How to keep Prionium Serratum.
Light
Palmiet flourishes when it is consistently exposed to sunlight, as it comes from a habitat where there is nearly constant sunlight exposure. Insufficient illumination can impede its growth, but it can manage environments devoid of shade. It's vital to have bountiful sun exposure at all stages of growth.
Temperature
Palmiet naturally thrives in climates that generally span from 68 to 100.4 °F (20 to 38 ℃). This vegetation prefers to be kept within this temperature range. There might be a need for seasonal tweaks, thus carefully tracking the conditions is vital.
