ON THIS PLANT
A note from PlantMom

Champion's bauhinia has strong resistance to disease and is typically not susceptible to illnesses. Regarding maintenance, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only light watering, and larger specimens generally do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they finish blooming. Champion's bauhiniat is suitable for anyone who has outdoor space, such as a garden or a deck, and does not call for extensive plant-care experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Phanera Championii.

Light

Champion's bauhinia is native to open settings—such as sunny meadows and forest edges—that offer abundant light. It flourishes in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to a range of sunlight conditions.

Temperature

Champion's bauhinia comes from tropical areas, where the weather is usually warm and humid. Consequently, it is adapted to high temperatures and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a consistent temperature, so avoiding indoor temperature fluctuations is important. It generally cannot withstand cold and needs higher temperatures to grow. If the surrounding temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Fertilizer

Early spring, when a Champion's bauhinia breaks dormancy, is the best time to fertilize it. This encourages overall growth and flower development. Fertilization improves the foliage, stems, and branches, and supports large, vibrant, long-lasting flowers. It helps transfer nutrients from the roots to the blooms and enhances the plant's health and resistance to disease.
