Memecylon caeruleum is a shrub or tree species in the Melastomataceae family. It is found from New Guinea, west through Southeast Asia to Tibet, Zhōngguó/China. It has become an invasive weed in the Seychelles. It has some local use for wood and food.
Spathandra blackioides is resistant to disease and is, in general, not susceptible to illnesses. With respect to care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only light watering, and larger specimens typically do not need pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Spathandra blackioidest is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or a deck, and does not require extensive care experience.
How to keep Memecylon Caeruleum.
Light
Spathandra blackioides comes from open habitats, for example sunny meadows and forest edges, which provide plentiful light. It does best in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adjusting well to different light conditions.
Temperature
Spathandra blackioides shows strong adaptability to temperature, tolerating high heat and considerable temperature swings. In hot conditions, you should ensure adequate watering and provide proper shading to prevent sunburn. On the other hand, Spathandra blackioides is fairly intolerant of low temperatures. It can endure some cold, but overly low temperatures may cause frost damage.
Fertilizer
Timing is important when fertilizing Spathandra blackioides. Apply fertilizer in early spring and continue once a month until early summer. The fertilizer promotes attractive blooms and supplies energy during both dormant and active growth phases.
