A note from PlantMom

Radermachera ignea shows strong resistance to disease and is typically not prone to illnesses. In terms of care, this species is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be trimmed after they finish blooming. Radermachera igneat is appropriate for anyone who has outdoor space, such as a garden or deck, and it does not demand extensive care experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Mayodendron Igneum.

Light

Radermachera ignea is native to habitats like forest understories and rocky areas, where it grows in natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can adapt to full sun or full shade, reflecting its versatile and hardy nature.

Temperature

Radermachera ignea comes from tropical areas, where the climate is generally warm and humid. Consequently, it is adapted to high heat and moisture. It does not tolerate sudden temperature shifts and prefers a consistent thermal environment, so avoiding indoor temperature fluctuations is important. It normally cannot endure cold conditions and needs warmer temperatures to develop. If the ambient temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Fertilizer

The best time to fertilize a Radermachera ignea is in early spring, when it comes out of dormancy. This promotes overall growth and flower development. Fertilizing improves the foliage, stems, and branches, while encouraging flowers that are large, bright, and long-lasting. It helps move nutrients from the roots to the flowers and enhances the plant’s health and resistance to disease.
