Magnolia zenii is a species of plant in the family Magnoliaceae. It is endemic to China. Listed as "critically endangered," there were only a few dozen found left of these when the variety was first discovered in China in 1931 according to MEG McCONAHEY writing in THE PRESS DEMOCRAT.
How to keep Magnolia Zenii.
Water
Water baohua magnolia primarily when it is newly planted or during periods of drought. Begin by watering the plant immediately after planting. Once the initial water has seeped through, repeat the watering process 4 to 5 more times. After that, water the plant again on the third and fifth days. Once the baohua magnolia is established, it requires less frequent watering, and minimal care is needed during the cooler seasons.
Pruning
The Baohua magnolia requires minimal pruning. It is best to do some light trimming in late spring or summer after it has finished blooming. During this time, remove any damaged or crossing branches and trim back any excessively leggy shoots. This will help promote a balanced structure and encourage future blooms. Avoid heavy pruning, as it can harm the plant and suppress flowering.
