Krascheninnikovia lanata is a species of flowering plant in the family Amaranthaceae, known by the common name winterfat. It is native to much of western North America: from central Western Canada; through the Western United States; to northern Mexico. The genus was named for Stepan Krasheninnikov—the early 18th-century Russian botanist and explorer of Siberia and Kamchatka.
Winterfat exhibits good disease resistance and is generally not susceptible to diseases. As for care, this plant is relatively low-maintenance. When grown outdoors, it needs minimal watering, and larger specimens typically do not require pruning. However, smaller plants should be pruned after they have bloomed. Winterfatt is suitable for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or a deck, and does not demand much gardening experience.
How to keep Krascheninnikovia Lanata.
Light
Winterfat needs sun for much of the day to encourage healthy growth. Insufficient solar exposure can harm the plant’s development and may cause stunted growth. Conversely, too much sun can also be detrimental. Because it comes from areas with abundant sunlight, the plant can move through its growth stages without major changes in light.
Temperature
Winterfat does well in climates with temperatures between 32 and 90 °F (0 to 32 ℃). Coming from varied environments, it has a relatively high tolerance for temperature. Keep soil temperature within that range for optimal growth.
Fertilizer
Fertilize your Winterfat in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Regular feeding boosts overall plant health, producing vigorous growth, increased tolerance of harsh conditions, and better resistance to pests and diseases. Keep to a defined fertilization schedule for your Winterfat to maintain vibrant, deeply colored foliage and a lush appearance.
