A note from PlantMom

Lanceleaf wax flower has strong resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. However, it can be vulnerable to leaf spots if light and ventilation are poor and if it is overwatered. The plant's care level is considered easy, as it only needs regular watering and little else. Lanceleaf wax flower is well suited for people who lack the time and energy to provide frequent care.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Hoya Lanceolata.

Light

Lanceleaf wax flower naturally grows in habitats like forest understories or rocky areas, where it is exposed to natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate full sun or full shade, demonstrating its adaptable, hardy nature.

Temperature

Lanceleaf wax flower comes from tropical areas, where conditions are generally warm and humid. Consequently, it is suited to high heat and moisture. It does not tolerate abrupt temperature shifts and favors a consistent thermal environment, so preventing temperature swings indoors is important. It typically cannot handle cold conditions and needs warmer temperatures to grow. If the ambient temperature falls too much, the plant may stop growing or die.

Fertilizer

Correct fertilization is essential for the health and appearance of the Lanceleaf wax flower. Fertilize the Lanceleaf wax flower in summer, applying fertilizer monthly throughout the season. Nutrients drive growth and maintain the plant's parts. Fertilization improves the Lanceleaf wax flower's floral display, ensuring the best blooms.

Pot & Repot

Repot Lanceleaf wax flower in early spring, selecting a pot only slightly larger than the current one and with good drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix, making sure the root ball remains at the same level as before. Gently loosen any root-bound roots. After repotting, water thoroughly and place the plant in a warm, shady spot. Regular pruning helps keep its size in check and encourages new growth.
