Hibbertia aspera, commonly known as rough guinea flower, is a species of flowering plant in the family Dilleniaceae and is endemic to eastern Australia. A note from PlantMom

Yellow buttercups are disease-resistant and are generally not susceptible to illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger/mature plants typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they finish blooming. Yellow buttercups are suitable for anyone with outdoor space, such as a garden or deck, and do not demand a lot of gardening experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Hibbertia Aspera.

Light

Yellow buttercups originate in open habitats, such as sunny meadows and forest edges, which offer abundant light. They thrive in Full Sun but can also tolerate Partial Sun, adapting well to a range of sunlight conditions.

Temperature

Yellow buttercups are highly adaptable to a variety of climate conditions, whether in sweltering summers or cold winters. They do, however, have an optimal temperature range for growth. If temperatures become too high, the plants are vulnerable to heat and humidity stress, which can cause their death. In locations where temperatures near the lower edge of their cold tolerance, it is important to provide insulation to protect them.

Fertilizer

Timing matters when feeding yellow buttercups. Begin fertilizing in early spring and repeat monthly until early summer. Fertilizer promotes attractive blooms and provides energy during both dormant periods and active growth.
