Guzmania sanguinea is a species of plant in the family Bromeliaceae. This species is native to Trinidad and Tobago, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and northern Brazil.
Tufted airplant has strong resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. However, if it lacks proper ventilation it can be susceptible to rot. Its care level is rated medium because it needs regular spraying to increase humidity and a small amount of fertilizer added to the water. This plant is best for people with some growing experience, since prolonged incorrect care can kill it even when problems are not immediately apparent.
How to keep Guzmania Sanguinea.
Light
The tufted airplant originates from regions such as forest understories, where natural shade is available. It has a preference for partial sunlight, however, complete sun exposure can also be managed if needed.
Temperature
The tufted airplant flourishes in hot climates. If the temperature drops too much, the plant could stop growing or experience harm from frost. It readily tolerates high temperatures and humidity, needing a constant amount of moisture in its environment. However, extremely high temperatures and humidity can put the plant at risk for fungal diseases. In arid conditions, continuous hydration and misting are crucial to keep sufficient humidity in the air. The plant is prone to shocks due to abrupt temperature changes, thus maintaining a fairly consistent temperature is important.
