Genista anglica, the petty whin, needle furze or needle whin, is a shrubby flowering plant of the family Fabaceae which can be found growing in Cornwall, Wales and eastern Scotland. It is 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) high.
Needle furze has strong resistance to disease and is generally not susceptible to illnesses. With respect to care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Planted outdoors, it needs very little watering, and larger plants typically do not need pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Needle furzet is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not require much care experience.
How to keep Genista Anglica.
Light
Needle furze comes from open habitats like sunny meadows and forest margins, which supply plenty of light. It does best in Full Sun but can also endure Partial Sun, adjusting well to different sunlight levels.
Temperature
Needle furze is highly adaptable to a variety of climatic conditions, from scorching summers to cold winters. Still, it has an optimal temperature range for growth. If temperatures get too high, the plant can suffer heat and humidity stress, which may lead to its death. In areas where temperatures near the lower limit of its cold tolerance, providing insulation is important to protect the plant.
Fertilizer
Fertilize your Needle furze in early spring to encourage healthy growth. Regular feeding improves overall vigor, producing strong growth, increased tolerance of difficult conditions, and enhanced resistance to pests and diseases. Keep to a set fertilization schedule for your Needle furze to preserve vibrant, deeply colored foliage and a lush appearance.
