Fridericia chica, the cricket-vine, puca panga, chica, carayurú (Spanish), carajuru or crajiru (Portuguese), is a medicinal plant in the family Bignoniaceae, also used for cosmetics. An orange-red dye called chica, crajiru or carayurú is obtained from boiling the leaves. It is used by some native South American peoples to stain the skin.
Fridericia chica exhibits good resistance to disease and is generally not prone to illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is relatively low maintenance. When planted outdoors, it requires minimal watering, and larger plants generally do not need to be pruned. However, smaller plants should be pruned after they have bloomed. Fridericia chicat is suitable for anyone with an outdoor space, such as a garden or deck, and does not require a lot of care experience.
How to keep Fridericia Chica.
Light
Fridericia chica naturally inhabits spaces like forest underlayers or stony regions, where it encounters organic shading. It thrives particularly well in semi-sunny conditions, yet it is resilient enough to adjust to both unfiltered sunlight and complete shadow, which attests to its adaptable and robust characteristics.
Temperature
Fridericia chica is native to areas with a tropical climate, where it's usually humid and hot. This plant thrives in high humidity and temperature conditions because it has adapted to these climatic conditions. It doesn't respond well to abrupt changes in temperature and prefers a consistent temperature setting. So, to prevent indoor temperature swings, one must be cautious. The plant isn't built to withstand cold weather, and it needs a warmer environment to grow. Growth may stop or the plant may perish if there's a significant temperature drop in its surroundings.
Fertilizer
The optimal period to provide nourishment to a Fridericia chica is during the onset of spring, as it awakens from its dormant state. This enhances the overall growth and the development of blooms. Nutritional supplementation improves the leaves, stems, and branches, while fostering bigger, brighter, and enduring blooms. It assists in the transport of nutrients from roots to blooms and boosts the plant's overall health and resistance to diseases.
