A note from PlantMom

Bald spikerush is resistant to disease and is generally not easily affected by illnesses. Regarding care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. Planted outdoors it needs little watering, and larger specimens usually don’t require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Bald spikerusht is well suited to anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not call for a great deal of care experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Eleocharis Erythropoda.

Light

Bald spikerush comes from habitats with plentiful sunlight, such as the shallow margins of ponds and lakes. It prefers full sun but can also tolerate partial sun.

Temperature

Bald spikerush can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, but its distribution may still be restricted by different combinations of moisture and heat. It does best in warm summer conditions with sufficient rainfall or watering. Extended periods of cloudy, rainy weather or prolonged high temperatures can increase the chance of Bald spikerush dying. In winter, protecting it from cold can improve its survival rate.

Pruning

Bald spikerush features slender, tufted stems that flourish in wet environments. To encourage healthy growth and regeneration, trim any dead stems in early spring. Regular pruning helps maintain the plant's shape and density, which supports soil erosion prevention and creates habitats. Be sure to use clean, sharp tools to prevent damage.
