Drosera lanata is a carnivorous plant in the genus Drosera and is endemic to the Northern Territory and Queensland in Australia. Its leaves are arranged in a compact basal rosette. Narrow linear petioles less than 2 mm wide emerge from the center of the rosette and hold carnivorous leaves at the end. Both petioles and the center of the rosette are densely covered in silvery dendritic hairs. These dendritic hairs afford the plant insulation and allow it to trap morning dew for additional moisture during the dry season. The leaf lamina is maroon-red and 2 mm long by 2.5 mm wide.
Drosera ordensis has moderate resistance to disease and requires a high-humidity environment. However, without adequate ventilation it can be prone to rot. The plant's care is considered difficult, as it needs continuous humidification to maintain high humidity. Drosera ordensis is also highly prone to rot if the environment is poorly ventilated and becomes too hot. This species is best suited to more experienced growers who can provide an appropriate growing environment.
How to keep Drosera Lanata.
Light
Drosera ordensis hails from habitats with plentiful sunshine, like wide-open bogs and bright wetlands. It thrives best in conditions of complete sunlight, yet it can also manage in situations of partial sun.
Temperature
Drosera ordensis prefers mild temperatures, much like those that are typically comfortable for humans. It flourishes in climates that are not excessively warm or overly chilly. The significant challenge with elevated temperatures is the potential for sun damage, and hence it is beneficial to offer some shielding from the sun in the summertime to avoid extreme heat. When temperatures plummet, Drosera ordensis goes into a state of dormancy. To ensure ongoing growth, it is critical to sustain warmer temperatures during the winter. Frost can inflict harm on the plant and is to be steered clear of.
Pot & Repot
When repotting Drosera ordensis, select a pot 1-2 inches (2.5–5.1 cm) larger with good drainage. Use a well-draining potting mix. Repot in spring or fall, making sure the root ball sits slightly below the rim of the flower pot. Water thoroughly after repotting and place in a warm spot with indirect sunlight.
