A note from PlantMom

Undulate sea squill has moderate resistance to disease but is more sensitive to humidity and excessive watering. It is also more prone to illness when it receives little light and is overwatered. Regarding care, undulate sea squill is drought-tolerant and can endure long stretches without water. It requires little fertilizer and only needs pruning occasionally. For these reasons, it is appropriate for gardeners of any skill level, particularly those who prefer to spend less time on plant care or who may be away from home for extended periods. It is a suitable option for people who do not want to dedicate much time to maintenance but still want an easy-to-care-for plant.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Drimia Undata.

Light

Native to dry areas, Undulate sea squill performs best in full sun; its native habitat features intense sunlight and very little shade. It can also tolerate partial sun, giving it some flexibility in where it will grow.

Temperature

Undulate sea squill prefers warm conditions and requires elevated temperatures during the growing season to support growth and metabolic activity. It benefits from abundant sunlight, suitable moisture levels, and good air circulation. However, it is vulnerable to harm from excessively low temperatures and from overwatering. It is important to maintain a balance and to avoid excessively high temperatures and overly dry conditions as well.

Fertilizer

Undulate sea squill requires only light doses of fertilizer 1-2 times a year during the growing season. Avoid fertilizing in winter and summer when the plant is dormant. Reduce fertilizer for repotted plants and wait a couple of months after repotting before applying fertilizer. Fertilizing supports healthy growth and encourages blooms.
