ON THIS PLANT
Delosperma basuticum, commonly known as the Basuto ice plant, is a succulent species native to South Africa. This low-growing perennial forms dense mats of fleshy leaves and produces bright yellow flowers in the summer. Its cylindrical, green-grey leaves are covered with small hairs that give them a velvety texture. The daisy-like flowers, which have numerous petals, appear on short stems above the foliage.
Delosperma basuticum is drought-tolerant and thrives in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade. It is often used as ground cover or in rock gardens because of its low maintenance requirements and attractive appearance when in bloom.
