Cycas taiwaniana is a species of plant in the genus Cycas. The species is native to Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian in China. Although the specific epithet, taiwaniana, is derived from Taiwan, where the original type specimens were found, it is not naturally distributed in Taiwan. Instead of C. taiwaniana, the original type specimens used for describing C. taiwaniana, had been reclassified under another species, Cycas taitungensis.
Cycad is resistant to disease and is generally not likely to suffer from illnesses. In terms of care, this plant is fairly low maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger plants typically do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have bloomed. Cycadt is appropriate for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not demand much gardening experience.
How to keep Cycas Taiwaniana.
Light
Cycad is native to habitats like forest understories or rocky sites, where it receives natural shade. It prefers partial sun but can tolerate both full sun and full shade, which demonstrates its versatility and hardiness.
Temperature
Cycad has good temperature adaptability, able to endure higher heat and wide temperature fluctuations. In hot weather, attention should be paid to watering and providing appropriate shade to avoid sunburn. However, Cycad is relatively intolerant of low temperatures; although it can tolerate some cold, extreme cold can cause frost damage.
Fertilizer
A cycad has specific nutrient needs and does not require heavy fertilization. Spring is the best time to apply fertilizer for optimal growth. Providing nutrients improves its health, increases resistance to pests and diseases, and supports its long lifespan.
