ON THIS PLANT

Balanites maughamii (manduro, torchwood, Afrikaans: Groendoring, Zulu: Ugobandlovu) is a protected tree in South Africa. Groendoring, a community outside Asab in Southern Namibia is named after this tree.

A note from PlantMom

Manduro shows strong resistance to disease and is typically not susceptible to illnesses. Regarding care, this plant is fairly low-maintenance. When grown outdoors it needs only minimal watering, and larger specimens usually do not require pruning. Smaller plants, however, should be pruned after they have finished blooming. Mandurot is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or deck, and does not need extensive gardening experience.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Balanites Maughamii.

Temperature

Manduro comes from tropical areas, which are generally warm and humid. Therefore it is adapted to high temperatures and humidity. It does not tolerate sudden temperature changes and prefers a stable thermal environment, so indoor temperature fluctuations should be avoided. It typically cannot withstand cold and needs warmer conditions to grow. If the environmental temperature falls too low, the plant may stop growing or even die.

Fertilizer

Fertilization is essential for Manduro's care. Regular feeding during the growing season provides the energy needed for its showy leaves and supports overall growth. Failing to fertilize can lead to unhealthy leaves, reduced ornamental value, and stunted or weak growth that is prone to breakage.
