It flourishes most effectively in humid climates during summer given sufficient precipitation or irrigation. Extended stretches of overcast and rainy climates, as well as extended high temperatures, can elevate the chances of the sea cushion plant dying. During the colder months, the plant's survival odds can be enhanced with appropriate cold-weather protection.

Jersey thrift benefits greatly from pruning, which should be done from early spring through late winter. To promote new growth and keep the plant healthy, trim away spent blooms, remove leggy stems, and clear out dead foliage.
