Agave shrevei is a member of the family Asparagaceae, indigenous to the Sierra Madre Occidental in Mexico, along the boundary between the states of Chihuahua and Sonora. Two subspecies are currently recognized, although a third has been proposed.
How to keep Agave Shrevei.
Water
Agave shrevei thrives in dry environments. Water the plant when the soil feels adequately moist, while making sure there is proper drainage. During the summer, increase the frequency of watering. In contrast, reduce watering in the fall and stop completely during its winter dormancy when temperatures drop to 10℃ (50℉). In the spring, as temperatures rise above 20℃ (68℉), resume watering to promote healthy growth.
Pruning
Agave shrevei has tall, spiky leaves arranged in a rosette shape and requires minimal pruning. To promote growth and improve air circulation while reducing the risk of disease, prune in early spring. Use sharp tools to make clean cuts, and wear gloves to safely handle the plant's sharp leaves.
