A note from PlantMom

Rhomboid mercury is fairly disease-resistant and usually not prone to illnesses. However, it can be affected by pests and diseases present in its surroundings. These problems are typically mild. In terms of care, the plant requires moderate upkeep. It should be pruned regularly to keep a tidy appearance and promote healthy growth. Fertilizing can also help encourage flowering. Rhomboid mercury is suitable for anyone with an outdoor area, such as a garden or patio, and does not need extensive care experience. It may require more attention when grown indoors.

CARE GUIDE

How to keep Acalypha Rhomboidea.

Light

Rhomboid mercury prefers bright light, such as locations where sunlight is most concentrated. Still, it can tolerate lower light levels, despite having only a limited tolerance for dim conditions. This flexibility stems from its evolutionary history in areas exposed to varying light intensities. Too much or too little light can impede its growth, so its light-dependent development requires a careful balance.

Temperature

Rhomboid mercury favors temperatures of 68 to 100.4°F (20 to 38 ℃), a preference rooted in its native, temperate habitat. Ideal growth can be encouraged by adjusting surrounding temperatures according to seasonal changes.

Fertilizer

Rhomboid mercury benefits from regular, dilute fertilizer applications to encourage healthy leaf growth. Fertilize Rhomboid mercury roughly once a month during the summer months. Nitrogen is essential for foliage, and supplementing with nitrogen-rich sources helps Rhomboid mercury thrive.
